Spring equals a new favorite color:

Yellow!!!!! I know it's the hottest thing right now but I truly do love it. I've actually been rockin it for months with my yellow converse purse.

These shoes my mom got for my birthday while in Florida, they're love.

Aren't they pretty?! The American Cancer Society does this thing where they give flowers to cancer patients with a little bear. I'm the survivor chair for my Relay for Life and at our last meeting we all got some. They make me smile every time I look at them because EVERY cancer patient deserves a vase of happiness.

And this hilarious picture is from a "mathquerade" party I attended this week. I made the mask, it was alot of fun. Sadly I haven't been knitting much lately so that's about all the crafting I have to show.

Secret Projects and Convention Lust

I was upset but ok with the fact I couldn't go to Gallifrey One, I had gotten over it because I knew I'd be in my cousin's wedding, who I had not seen in two years. I'd gotten over it and accepted it. Then I started seeing people's pictures. I'm so jealous! I miss dressing up and being a nerd with hundreds of others just as nerdy, or even moreso than I. My jealousy has lead me to start a few projects:

I'm back in full swing of working on my Doctor Who costumes. Current project is five and his sweater, which I am designing and knitting up myself. Bad Wolf is what I wrote inside my fake glasses I bought with birthday money for both my 5 and 10 cosplay. Totally got them at Claire's, haha. Back to working on my Doomsday wristwarmers! Almost done with the first actually, might try and write up a pattern with the second one. As for baby Tardis, Jayne hats, and Sonic Screwdrivers? You'll just have to wait and see, I have something really big for everyone in March!

And because today was awful and rainy:

Soooooooooooooooo scenester! It kinda makes me hate myself.

Quick update: I couldn't figure out why comments weren't showing up and people couldn't post new ones but I finally figured it out! So sorry if you wanted to comment on the last two posts, it's possible now! Also I'm messing around with the layout so tell me what you think. I'm not sure I like it right now but I don't know what to do.

Some relaxing time on the beach

Our condo this past weekend was right on the beach in Fernadina, FL. Overall in the trip I didn't get as much knitting done as I wanted but what I did was very relaxing, about an hour and a half on my birthday all to myself, my yarn, tea, and a great view of the ocean. Here's some delightful pictures I snapped of the time away from everyone and everything:

The wedding was great too. My cousin was so beautiful and her husband is so sweet. I cried as I knew I would. I mean I've known her for almost 21 years. Now I'm just bitter we don't share the last name. I'll post more pics of my trip later :)

No title?! I couldn't think of one thus this entry doesn't get one, ha!

I've been working on my Textured Tunic with Side Buttons and my Linen Stitch Blanket almost exclusively lately. I've been really busy but it still seems like I've gotten pretty far on my sweater. I'm almost done with the body and then on to the sleeves. Hopefully by the time I come back from Florida (next week, for my cousin's wedding) I'll have it done and ready to show off. I've always been to scared to bring knitting on the plane due to horror stories of needles being taken away but it seems to not really be a problem any more. I think I'll have even less trouble since they're circular but does anyone know if metal needles are ever taken away these days? I'd just hate to lose my size10 tips.

This would be my basket full of the six yarns I'm using to make this blanket.

I love how the linen stitch is so easy but looks sooo diffrent on either side. I really wish you could feel how dense it is. It's squishy and soft and will be oh so warm!

The first picture shows the color really well and the second shows the length. Sorry about the flesh, I wanted to try it on with a tank top underneath but I really need to do laundry, haha. I'm not the biggest fan of how this yarn (Paton's SWS) gets little...furry. It totally makes up for it in drape though. With a good wash and blocking it'll fit great. Which by the way there's nothing fitted about this sweater. Some people complained about this but really I like it because it means I can try it on as I go and just add shaping where I want it. As roommate said it's boobalicious, haha.

What I've been obsesed with of late

My favorite designer at the moment is Stephanie Japel. I have more than half of Fitted Knits on my to do list and am currently working on her textured tunic with side buttons, it looks really beautiful but is so easy. I haven't had to take notes on little post-its like I usually do.
The next is my must have for summer, Japel's Cleo. It's probably the next thing I knit once I get birthday money etc.



I just love the way she structures her designs with the simplest and most attractive techniques. I can see myself wearing anything I knit of her designs for years and years. They're really classics and staples but very special at the same time.


Next would be my favorite blog, a Beautiful Mess aka Elsie, at: http://abeautifulmess.typepad.com/my_weblog/. I've actually been reading her blog for quite a while but since I've started she's gone from selling her handmade items on her own to having her designs sold in Joannes and Michaels to finally opening her own store next week. Having seen her process it's astounding! It gives me faith that one day, if I decide it's what I want to do I could start my own sewing buisness. Create my own designs and make money while doing my longest standing hobby.

So yes, those are a few things I've been inspired by and in love with recently, enjoy!

I just can't stop

I'm going to play with this one but I like the square composition. I loved the pic when I took it but once it's cropped it turns into a whole nother photo. Looking through my photos from Sweden/Ireland I think I may end up entering Women's Works this year. I've gotten in before, just found that my work is still up on the website, although it's the worst shot of it ever.

A dying genre

So a few years ago I bought a polaroid camera and pretty much just played around with it. Nothing too stunning but fun none the less. Sadly though they have now stopped production of 600 film which means the only way to get your hands on some is for about $20 per 10 pic cartridge. I thought all hope was lost. That is until I found Poladroid. A free download in which you "process" your digital photos into polaroids. It's alot of fun, I love the aged look and the square composition. Here's a few of my faves:

The first five are from my trip to Sweden and Ireland this past summer. I love how these look! Then is my boyfriend and I doing what we do all summer, swinging and drinking slurpies. The heart cookies I made for a party we threw for our friend Darlene who died of cancer. We raised $100 in her name for American Cancer Society. The last one is from New Years at Lake Geneva. I'm holding that bird because I was remembering when my cousin and I did that in Panama City two years prior. I love them all and I'm completely obsessed!
