Eep! I'm back

It's been ages since my last post! Sorry to the few who read this sad attempt at a blog, I promise to be better, it's one of my 2009 resolutions. I figure having a blog now will be good later on if I decide to do something with my crafts more than just for myself and friends. Anyways on to what I've been doing in 2009, since the end of 2008 was almost no crafting :(

My first FO of 2009 was a good one, my very own Jayne hat. I had started one during the holidays but it was too short so then I took out the bind on edge and knit in the other direction then bound off much too tight. Another thing that was bugging me was that the red and yellow were wool but the orange was acrylic. When I was home for the holidays I found a whole skein of orange Patons Classic wool from my Doctor Who scarf, which is what the red and yellow were. PERFECT! I didn't do much knitting around the holidays except for trying out the giant US 50 needles my mom got me. In three hours I made three scarves, they're so awesome!

So the first FO of 09 was my very own Jayne Cobb hat, inspired by the series Firefly. It was my first pom pom, pretty good if I may say so myself!

"Pretty Cunning dontcha think?" "A man walks down the street in that hat you know he aint affraid of nothin."

I hope I did Ma Cobb proud :)

Next are some current projects. My cousin's garter for her wedding on Valentine's day which WOULD be done except she still hasnt given me her thigh measurements. I used Knitty's Eloping and once I got a hang of it it just flew along. The yarn is from my stash so I have no idea what it is but it's soft and hot pink, just what she asked for. This is a project I just wanna get done and outta the way!

Not what I would choose by any means but cute.

I'm also working on a pair of Doomsday wristwarmers. Now I know there's a pattern out there for them but I had aran weight on hand and I always enjoy when the finished project is mine from beginning to end (well minus the spinning, I'll get there eventually I'm sure). It's not exact to Rose's but truthfully I don't care cause I don't plan on cosplaying her again.

I love how the SWS is kinda rustic looking. It looks so much better in person and the cables stand out much better. Once they're done I'll have to find a better lighting or something. Here's a screen cap for those who dont obsess over every inch of knitted item in Doctor Who like me.

Ten points for the lovely bum shot of David Tennant in the brown suit! God will I miss that man as the Doctor! Seriously more upset about that than Matt Smith. Then again every Doctor has their time, I guess we just have to appreciate his time as the Doctor even more. And thank God for one more season, I don't think I'm ready to give up that pretty face just yet. Oh and did I mention the Christmas special was made of win?! Steampunk Doctor Who is simply brilliant!

So yes, that's all I got. Off to try and stay warm in this awful cold weather.
